Connecticut is the top overall seed as it begins its quest to win a 12th national championship after recording its seventh undefeated regular season. Joining the Huskies as No. 1 seeds are Mississippi State, Louisville and Notre Dame.
The top seeds are no strangers to each other or the Final Four. Last year Mississippi State stunned UConn in the national semifinals, ending the Huskies’ 111-game win streak and streak of four straight NCAA titles. Louisville has been to the final twice since 2009 and Notre Dame has been to the Women’s Final Four five times in the last seven years.
One interesting part of the bracket is that UConn and last year’s title winner, South Carolina, landed in the same regional and could face each other in a regional final in Albany, N.Y.
