At the time of this writing, there are four Square Enix-published games scheduled to release throughout March 2022. Now, it’s entirely possible that the release dates for some of these games will get pushed back, but for now, they are all on track to drop in March. It’s abnormal for a single publisher to have four games releasing in just one month, and one has to wonder which games will be hits and which ones will fail to resonate with fans.

New Square Enix Games March 2022
Babylon’s Fall - March 3 Triangle Strategy - March 4 Chocobo GP - March 10 Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin - March 18
The first Square Enix offering dropping March 2022 is an action-RPG from acclaimed developer PlatinumGames called Babylon’s Fall. Babylon’s Fall closed beta tests have provided Platinum with information that it’s using to improve the game before its proper launch, with Square Enix sharing a list of Babylon’s Fall changes that are being made based on player feedback. Platinum’s track record speaks for itself, so it will be interesting to see how Babylon’s Fall turns out come its March 3 release date on PC, PS4, and PS5.
Just a day later on March 4, Square Enix fans have another game to look forward to, with this one developed as a collaboration between Artdink and Square Enix. Triangle Strategy is a Nintendo Switch exclusive game being led by Tomoya Asano, who also worked on games like Bravely Default and Octopath Traveler, the latter of which shares many visual similarities with Triangle Strategy. A tactical RPG that appears similar to games like Final Fantasy Tactics, Triangle Strategy is poised to be one of the first big strategy game releases of 2022, and one of the first major Switch exclusive games releasing in the new year as well.
Square Enix is primarily known for RPGs like Triangle Strategy and Babylon’s Fall, but sometimes it steps outside of its comfort zone to tackle other genres instead. That’s exactly what it’s doing with Chocobo GP on March 10. Developed solely by Square Enix and releasing as a Nintendo Switch exclusive like Triangle Strategy, Chocobo GP wil have a paid version as well as a free to play version for fans to check out.
For those unfamiliar with Chocobo GP, it’s a spin-off of the Final Fantasy franchise that trades the series’ signature RPG gameplay for kart racing not unlike Nintendo’s popular Mario Kart games. But instead of characters from Super Mario, Chocobo GP lets players play as a variety of characters from the main series FInal Fantasy games. Chocobo GP is quite a bit different than most of the games in the Final Fantasy series, but it should still have its fans.
Final Fantasy fans who want something a bit more serious than Chocobo GP also have something to look forward to in March. March 28 will see the launch of the Team Ninja-developed Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is a companion piece to the very first Final Fantasy game, offering an action-RPG style of gameplay that has drawn comparisons to the Dark Souls franchise.
Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is looking to tell a dark fantasy story while delivering hard-hitting combat. Many fans have come away from the game’s demo impressed by the combat especially, but it remains to be seen how the complete package will turn out.
While most of Square Enix’s new releases in the first quarter of 2022 are focused on March, these aren’t the only games that fans have to look forward to within the next few months. Square Enix is set to release the Life is Strange Remastered Collection on February 1 across numerous platforms, and those in Japan can also look forward to the launch of Dragon Quest 10 Offline, which is, as its name implies, an offline version of the popular MMORPG. There’s no word yet on if Dragon Quest 10 Offline will make its way to other regions, but here’s hoping Dragon Quest fans outside of Japan can finally play the game soon.
