Kenyan marathoner Rita Jeptoo has been suspended from all competition by Athletics Kenya until Oct. 29, 2016 after testing positive for EPO.

The two-year ban for the three-time Boston Marathon champion and two-time Chicago Marathon winner is the maximum penalty for a first violation under the old World Anti-Doping Agency code that was in effect when she tested positive. 

In response to an increase in doping issues with Kenyan athletes, the World Anti-Doping Agency, along with agencies from Norway and China, are working with Kenya to set up its own anti-doping agency.
