Pacquiao suffered the injury while training for the May 2 fight, which Mayweather won by unanimous decision. After the fight, Pacquiao said he aggravated the injury during the third round but fought through soreness.

Pacquiao’s surgeon, Dr. Neal ElAttrache, said via the AP he could not be “more pleased with the results” and fully expects Pacquiao to make a full recovery, which could take up to 12 months.

Despite the long recovery time, Mayweather told ESPN he would consider a rematch against Pacquiao.

Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum sees no reason why there couldn’t be a rematch once his fighter is ready to go.

“We first have to make sure the (injured) rotator cuff heals well,” Arum said to ESPN. “Dr. (Neal) ElAttrache is a famous surgeon, one of the best in the business, so I’m confident the surgery will work, and if it does, why wouldn’t we entertain a rematch?”
