Last year, United bought out their £10 million (a year) training-kit deal with the express delivery and freight firm DHL. The £10 million (a year) shirt sponsorship deal is set to be replaced by a £53 million annual package with General Motors’ Chevrolet in 2014.

There were also speculations about United close to signing a £100m (a year) deal with a leading airline.

However, United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has confirmed that they will never be selling the naming rights to Old Trafford.

Woodward said: “None of the signed nor planned deals will affect Old Trafford, which will not be sold.”
