Manchester United’s 2012/2013 pre-season tour has now been boosted with a glamour tie against Spanish giants Barcelona which will take place in Gothenburg on 8th August.
The two clubs have got to know each well after meeting in two Champions League finals and one semi-final in recent years.
Sir Alex Ferguson and Pep Guardiola also locked horns in Washington during last season’s summer tour of America, which United won 2-1.
United chief executive David Gill said “Manchester United against Barcelona is one of the top fixtures in world football and we are delighted to bring this match to the beautiful city of Gothenburg,”
“We have a large following throughout Scandinavia and it’s great that this match will form part of our preparations for the new season.”
