James Rodriguez kick started his professional career with Envigado FC, before he moved on to Atletico Banfield where he made his first team debut in a 3–1 victory against Rosario Central at Estadio Florencio Sola in February 2009. A Colombian international, the pacy and powerful flankman made his first senior appearance for his native country in a narrow 2–1 win over old rivals Bolivia at Estadio Hernando Siles in October 2011.
